Building on the success of the GIPE (Global Intercultural Project Experience) project funded by DAAD from 2019 to 2023, the new project GIPE++ will be run in the years 2025 to 2027! It is again funded by DAAD in close cooperation with our partner universities:
The focus of the GIPE++ project, which allows for three annual student projects - each taking place during the summer semester (March to July) - is on providing a truly international, interdisciplinary and intercultural project experience to students of the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences and its participating partner universities. The aim is to prepare students significantly better for a professional career in globally active companies or organisations.
For the year 2025, we will be collaborating with the local community “Pokdarwis” of Pulau Untung Jawa Island (one of the “Thousand Islands” north of Jakarta) to derive sustainable solutions to help fight Climate Change and enhance Tourism.

We are looking for students interested in working in an international, interdisciplinary and intercultural team together with other teams on the development and presentation/handover of practical solutions intended for later use by the client and further stakeholders.
The official start of the project is a joint kick-off event on

During these two weeks, all scholars from all our partner universities will be here in Germany to work (but also have fun) together on the project in mixed teams which they will continue online after the Spring School.
Finally, the WH Scholars will then visit our partner university in Jakarta, Indonesia, from
for meeting their Indonesian peers again, doing some final work and polishing the project results and for presentation & formal hand-over of the results to the client on Pulau Untung Jawa Island.
Selected students will receive a Scholarship covering costs for travel to and accomodation in Indonesia. However, participation is also possible without traveling to Indonesia in July - please indicate when submitting your application.
